SBA Programs Have Complex Simulation Data
Exchange Issues

• Explanation The use of many different
  simulations chained together by their data
  files is a common practice for SBA programs like
  JSF. CAD data translation loss also poses
  different challenges for each user simulation.
• Recommendation VWS will continue to solicit
  papers in this area, and will amend CFP. Future
  session on CAD translation issues possible.

Custom Simulation Interoperability Toolkits are
being developed for System of System Testbeds

• Explanation HLA is being increasingly being
  used in real-time simulation testbeds, and
  custom simulation toolkits have been used to
  enhance performance and reusability.
• Recommendation VWS will continue to seek papers
  on HLA Testbeds, and capture best practices and
  lessons learned (such as custom toolkits).

Development of Federation Agreements can be a
Challenging Task

• Explanation Federations are governed not just
  by their FOMs and SOMs, but also by the
  Federation Agreements that are generated to guide
  their execution. These Federation Agreements can
  be rather lengthy and intricate documents.
• Recommendation A Best Practices Guide for
  documenting Federation Agreements would be of
  benefit to the simulation community. SISO should
  continue to capture best practices and lessons
  learned in this area, and should consider a study
  group for the proper forum.

Success Stories are Emerging for Multi-Resolution
Modeling Challenges

• Explanation We have seen increasing use of
  multi-resolution modeling techniques in
  simulation federations. Multi-resolution
  modeling has many challenges, including data
  exchange, disaggregation, and time management.
• Recommendation VWS will continue to seek papers
  in this area to capture lessons learned and best
  practices. A Recommended Practices Guide should
  be considered as a possible future project or
  study group.
