Function
  • Provides EPA with the authority to require
    reporting, testing requirements, and restrictions
    relating to chemical substances and/or mixtures
  • Addresses the production, importation, use, and
    disposal of specific chemicals including
    polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), asbestos, radon
    and lead-based paint
  • Requires manufacturers to submit
    pre-manufacturing notification to the EPA prior
    to manufacturing or importing new chemicals for
    commercial purposes
  • Includes the TSCA Inventory, which contains more
    than 83,000 chemicals. As new chemicals are
    commercially manufactured or imported, they are
    placed on the list. The TSCA prohibits the
    manufacture or importation of chemicals that are
    not on the TSCA Inventory
