Scrooge for Mayor

Pollution

• Sanitation was so bad that sewage ran down the
  streets, and people died by the thousands from
  cholera, tuberculosis, and despair.
• Scrooge, if elected, will provide new jobs by
  having garbage men come once every week and
  clean up the streets. The organization will be
  called LPC. Which stands for London's Pick-up
  Crew.

Surplus Population

• Away from the attractive main streets and the
  suburbs where the wealthy lived lay blackened
  factories, slag heaps, open sewers, and hundreds
  of cramped courts (alleys) where most people
  lived in overcrowded, badly built houses.

• Scrooge will do this by making sure there is a
  limited number of people in each house.

Living Conditions and Mass of Factories

• Since there was a lot of factories they took up a
  lot of space for living.
• Since there was a lot of people in the same spot
  then it often becomes very dirty and unsanitzed.

Migration

• During industrialization there was a big movement
  from rural areas to urban areas. This is a big
  reason for why they didnt have a lot of room.
• Scrooge will hire farmers to stay in the rural
  areas because we still need the resources like
  cotton and wheat.
• The population surged during the 19th century,
  from about 1 million in 1800 to over 6 million a
  century later.

Mining

• It was very important to keep the mining going
  because we really need the coal and gold.
• Especially coal because they used it for
  electricity and to power machines like trains.
• Scrooge will make a program called L.M.S.

• It will improve mining productivity by 10
  because there will always be workers at hand.

Effects of Industrialization

• Labor was effected a lot because there werent a
  lot of jobs and sometimes there werent any
  available.
• Pollution was effected because a lot more people
  means a lot more trash. Also because of all the
  factories that produced all the smoke.
