Brick Layout
Mass estimate for brick 9kg Total weight budget
for UPS 212.5kg Additional weight savings from
Cutout on side panel Decrease flange width
6
Battery Requirements
  • Battery will provide control power to CSP in
event of loss of ISS power or communication
  • Watch-dog timer/control circuit
  • Normal Ramp down function
  • Quench monitoring
  • Initiation of quench, 45A pulse
  • Minimum battery voltage 20.3V during pulse
  • Derived from minimum voltage at quench heaters of
    12V
  • Must operate in thermal environment similar to
    USS-02 Upper Trunnion Bridge

7
Battery Specifications
  • Consists of eight cells, Yardney NCP25-3
  • Nominal Voltage 8 X 3.6 V 28.8 V
  • Capacity 28 Ah
  • Operational Temperature Range -30 degC to 50
    degC
  • Capable of supplying 45A pulse at required
    voltage throughout mission profile
