CLIENT BRIEF
  • All work to be planned and implemented to meet
the following principle - to conserve natural
resources and minimise pollution in the layout,
construction and ongoing use of asset/building.
  • Flexibility is the keynote of the project.
Community use of the facility is to be a key
element of the design solution in a multi-use
basis. The design would allow for further
extension of the building if that were required
at some future date with relative ease
classrooms, dining areas and school hall.

EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT
  • Courtyard providing a quiet area for learning and
safe exploration of water. To be developed by
    school.
  • Outdoor classrooms engaging the environment in
    the curriculum.
  • Areas for play and exploration woodland,
wildflower, and habitat areas, as well as playing
field for use by school and community.

14
GOAL
  • To establish sustainability as a core ethos of
the school, engaging its users and the wider
    community.
  • To use the design itself as an educational tool
to deepen understanding of the relationship
between our environment, our communities, and our
    society.
  • To embed sustainability and biodiversity allowing
future users to take ownership and develop their
own responses to our place in the natural world.
