Using Fetch to publish Web pages
  • Fetch is a FTP program--file transfer
protocol--it sends your file to the emich server,
the Internet host of your pages.
  • EMICH requires a secure FTP program know as SFTP.
    (other systems may not)
  • Heres some FETCH help http//www.fetchsoftworks.c

    ections.html

CSS--the basics of Web design
  • This is the aesthetics part of the trilogy list.
  • It is also an intersection of technical and
aestheric criteria. Basically two forms of style
    sheets internal and external.
  • Starting on p. 47 of your text, follow the
directions to add an internal style sheet to the
Web page you published last week.
  • If youre ready, turn to page 87 and begin
working on an external style sheet.

8
Steps to install portfolio page.
  • 1. First create an emich account.
  • http//people.emich.edu/
  • 2. Then write html code to create a basic
portfolio page (name it index.html) Use Bbedit or
    hand-code using basic text editor.
  • 3. Use Fetch to publish it on the emich server.
  • http//people.emich.edu/gettingstarted.php

The trilogy list
  • Rhetorical objectives--what is the goal of the
communication? Who is the audience? How do we
best meet the needs of the audience?
  • Technical objectives--which tool will work best?
  • Aesthetics--does it look good?
  • You will create one and post it on your portfolio
    page.
  • A flexible framework to design digital content.
