Title: Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

1
Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ
2
  • ????-????????, ????? ???????  ??????? ??????
    ???????.
  • To you I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving.

3
1st Reading
  • We have read here the confirmation of the
    covenant between God and man.
  • This covenant-sacrifice would then lead to a
    covenant meal.
  • Here we can see the people offering sacrifice to
    God as one people.

4
2nd Reading
  • The sacrifice of Christ is presented in contrast
with the Old Testament sacrifice done by Moses
    and the Israelites (1st Reading).
  • However, here Jesus is the High Priest who offers
the sacrifice, at the same time He Himself is the
    sacrifice being offered.

5
Gospel
  • Jesus celebrates the Passover meal with His
apostles. It then becomes the institution of the
    Eucharist.
  • Here we can see that the Eucharistic meal as a
    sacrificial banquet.

6
  • What is the Eucharist for us?

7
It is our thanksgiving.
  • Lord, thank you for everything!

8
Think about this
  • Do I make my daily Mass a real moment of
thanksgiving a thanksgiving in times of joy and
success, as well as during times of failure and
    pain?

9
It is our Communion.
  • The Eucharist is my highest act and expression of
    unity with everyone.

10
Think about this
  • Whenever I come in front of the altar to receive
the Holy Eucharist, am I truly in union with the
whole Church, my brothers and sisters?
  • Do I also suffer when they suffer, or I dont
    care at all?

11
The Eucharist is a Sacrifice.
  • Like Jesus, I am ready to be a victim and suffer
to be one with my brothers and sisters.

12
Think about this
  • The Eucharist is a sacrifice what sacrifices am
I ready to make in order to be able to worthily
received the Holy Eucharist and thus be in
    communion with others?
  • Am I ready to be broken for others?

13
Final thought from St. Paul1 Corinthians 11
26-29
  • For as often as you eat this bread and drink the
cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he
comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or
drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have
to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. A
person should examine himself, and so eat the
bread and drink the cup. For anyone who eats and
drinks without discerning the body, eats and
    drinks judgment on himself.
