Title: Dream House Phase 2
1Dream House -- Phase 2
- Putting the sketch on the computer
2Before starting
- You must have an APPROVED plan sketch before
beginning this step. - See Mrs. D for an individual meeting.
- While you are waiting start researching your
doors. Jump to this slide.
3Take the house that you have sketched had
approved!!!
4Add doors with the house plan template(in bin 7
under mailboxes)
These are approximate locations for the doors
you are just making sure you will have enough
room
5Add room namesabbreviations are fine
6Add some notes as to rough sizes (this will help
you draw the rectangles that are your rooms on
the computer)Use an architects scale ¼ 10
These are approximate sizes --- just to give
yourself something to start from
7Launch AutoCAD
- Open your dream house file
- Pick a spot out in model space away from the
property to begin your house (we will place house
on property later) - Start on a con layer
- Draw the rectangles that makeup your house just
like we did with the common house
8Draw the rectangles just like we did with the
common house-- Foyer / Front door at the bottom
- Offset the walls out 6 (wall thickness)
- BEWARE OF DOUBLE WALLS!!
9Line up walls
- Even out walls that dont match
- Keep in mind you have to put a roof on this
creation - Always keep in mind what the house might look
like from the street (curb appeal)
Dont worry about sqft. I have approved your
design in our meeting.
10Explode all of your rectangles
11Label each room with name
- ALL CAPS
- Room Label Text style
Add leaders as needed
Try to put name in center of the room
12Label each room with the size
- If an odd shape add more than one X by Y
dimension - Figure out the size of each room using the
dimension commands --- since the sizes may have
changed since you initially designed them - Add square footage of all rooms
- Try the area command on the initial rectangle
that you have drawn - Double check with a calculator

13Use Dim command
Dimension pull down menu OR Dimension toolbar
(above) PUT ON a new CON LAYER Linear
dimensions Pick corners of room Drag in/out Add
room size based on measurements Later you can
turn off the con layer
14Adding Doors
- Before you add the symbols for your doors you
need to identify your doors (start making your
door schedule) open DH schedules file - Research online for your doors
- You need actual doors to use for your house
(inside out)
