What is Execution and Control?

• It is some variation of the activities
• Customer requirements
• Design
• Build
• Deploy
• The collection of activities in this phase is
  called a development methodology or
  development lifecycle
• The activities can be sequential, like a
  waterfall
• The activities can loop around themselves,
  revisiting a previous activity before finishing
  the one youre on, called an iterative process

What are Development Methodologies?

• The methodology will be profession-specific
• Building a bridge
• Building a house
• Building a computer system
• The basic EPMM can be customized by changing the
  development methodologies to match a particular
  type of project

What is a System Development Methodology?

• Agencies use a System Development Methodology
  (SDM) for IT projects, also called a System
  Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• There are generally two kinds of IT projects
• Application development, also called software
  engineering, where you build a system from
  scratch
• Commercial off-the-shelf implementations, where
  you configure a system you bought, such as SAP

What is a System Development Methodology?

• The approved methodology for application
  development projects (also called software
  engineering) is the Software Engineering Process
  (SEP)
• SEP is maintained by the Business Solutions
  Center of Excellence (BSCoE)
• It is not a complete methodology, going from
  business processes to building computer systems,
  but not including the last two activities of
  acceptance and installation, and transition to
  operations

• The methodology for commercial off-the-shelf
  projects commonly used for SAP implementations is
  Accelerated SAP (ASAP)
