Title: To review a SOP'

1
To review a SOP.
  • Irene Mattisson
  • Swedish National Food Administration

2
To review a SOP.
  • Aim with presentation- to give some thoughts
and experiences as a background for a discussion
    on SOPs.

3
Expectations.
  • ad 5. Description of the procedure, including
references and appendices (from Guidelines on
how to write a EuroFIR SOP )
  • In this chapter the work done is described in as
much detail as necessary. The description should
be well structured, concise, complete and
unambiguous. It should give detailed instructions
on how to perform the work in a consistent and
repeatable fashion. The description may be useful
for training however, is not intended to replace
    it.

4
To review a SOP.
  • My approach in reviewing started purely from my
own, short experiences with the NFA database and
    the Swedish Food System.
  • Continued with discussing the SOP with my
    colleagues and consulted EuroFIR technical
    website.

5
Experiences from NFA
  • Samples and sample sizeHow to prepare samples
for analysis? How many samples? How to choose on
the shelf? How to cook? Should we cook or
analyse raw?Where to find information on market
shares etc.? When do we have enough information
for decision making on products?Etc. etc.

6
Experiences from NFA
  • Selecting algorithms What problems are we facing
with different calculations? How to choose factor
(FA, NE, protein) for mixed products?Fatty acids
    - demands on the protocol from the analyses to be
able to calculate FA-composition.How can we
handle old data with lacking information on
differentiation of fatty acids? Carbohydrates -
calculated by difference? Summation of analyses?

7
The Perfect SOP
  • How to .
  • Focus on the tasks of compilers
  • References

8
How to
  • Commitment from compilers
  • Discussions among compilers
  • Continue the good work that has started. We have
achieved a lot but there is still more to do!
