2Cold Chisel
Cold Chisels are normally made from High Carbon
Steel. They are made in a wide variety of sizes
and normally used to cut metal.
Always wear goggles when using this tool
Cold Chisels can also be used to cut

The Rivet Set Snap is used when during the

4Hand Countersink
The Hand countersink is used to remove the Burr
(sharp edge) from a drilled hole.
5Tin Snips
Tinsnips are used to cut sheet metal. They can
be used in your hand like scissors but its
easier to use them fixed in the vice as shown to
the right

Mole Grips, sometimes called self grip pliers can
be used to grip any shape, even round bar. The
locking mechanism on the handle gives a much
stronger grip than ordinary pliers

Engineers pliers are Multi purpose pliers used
for gripping small objects and cutting fine wire

8Adjustable Spanners
Adjustable spanners will fit any nut/bolt up to
34mm in size. While an adjustable spanner is a
useful tool to have in a toolbox it is always
preferable to use an normal spanner as this is
less likely to round the corners of a nut or bolt.
9Stillson Wrench
Stillson in use
The Stillson wrench has a drop forged body with
hardened steel jaws. This tool is especially
useful for gripping round objects like pipe.

End Cutters are used to cut rivets to the correct
length

Water pump pliers are designed with a pivoting
hinge that allows the pliers to open very rapidly
to accommodate a wide range of diameters. These
pliers will grip both round bar and hexagonal nuts

The Repousse Hammer can be used to produce a
dimpled pattern on a metal surface

The small socket set can be used to undo nuts and
bolts
14Letter/Number Punches
Letter stamps can be used to stamp your name on
soft metals.
Lettering
- When using the letter stamps make sure
that.. - You are working on a hard surface (an anvil)
- 2. The lettering on the stamp is facing you
- 3. You strike the stamp with one firm blow.

The Toolmakers clamp can be used to hold small
pieces of work while working on them.
In the picture on the right the Toolmakers clamp
is being used to hold rails in place while
adhesive sets.
