Key Program Elements

• Everyone is responsible for assessment
• Primary vehicle for program direct learning
  assessment is course-embedded assessments in core
  courses
• Classroom assessment expected in non-core
  coursesno new course approved without it
• Developing goals matrices to tie curriculum into
  program goals and five university dimensions
• Absolute guarantee that learning outcomes will
  not be used for faculty evaluationthis is
  assured in the learning outcomes reporting plans
• We emphasize assessment as a process (over goals)

We Provide Support

• Send faculty and key staff to AACSB Assessment
  Seminarsthese individuals then offer assistance
  to others
• Course development grants include an assessment
  component
• Anticipate offering some funding for developing
  assessment in individual courses
• We sometimes even provide the rubrics (e.g., for
  Communicationby Krizek Turner)
• Resourcesbooks, contacts and web materialsbeing
  collected or developed

We Communicate

• Assessment is a topic at every Faculty Assembly,
  Executive Committee, and most Curriculum Board
  meetings
• Director of Assessment regularly visits
  department meetings to address specific concerns
• Students/BSGA brought in in the fall of 2004
• Cook School web site available to internal
  external audienceswith links to other
