    cover the Netherlands

Goals in education
  • Competent co-ordinators in finding, screening,
    matching, schooling and supporting the volunteers
  • Competent guardians in supporting the client(s)
  • We agree with the Austrian slogan as much
    support in decision making as necessary, as much
    autonomy for the client as possible know your
    client well
  • Know and exercise your rights and duties
  • Skills in negotiation, - in ethical weighing

Costs and benefits
  •  The client pays for the costs for example
    (minimum 250,00)
  • Travelling / Telephone / et cetera
  • The volunteer is sometimes insured by the local
    government and sometimes rewarded by reduction
    with cultural events
  • Informal guardian meetings in the region

The law G.is not specific
  • Every (family) guardian is hold to good
    guardianship in (medical) care, nursing and
    welfare
  • No rights nor duty upon education
  • There is not a lawfully based code of conduct
  • The guardian has almost the same rights as the
    client would have in the context of the situation
    (except decisions about death)
  • There is a obligation to give information to care
    takers

Education co-ordinators
  • Based on needs (starting professional), in
    practice a mentor relation between co-ordinator
    and experienced co-ordinator.

Education of the guardians
  • Duration from 1 day (orientation) to 6 evenings
  • Maximum is 20 participants
  • The costs approx. 25,00 per volunteer
  • Development program / teacher, rent of classroom
  • Extra travelling costs based on public transport
  • Criteria teacher expert in teaching adults /
    affinity with guardianship and client groups
  • Guardian meetings with themes (next page)
  • We like to research if and how E-learning can
    help in education in both coordinators and
    guardians
