5 SAP R/3s Industry Solutions
For each of the above industries, SAP has created
a Solution Map that lays out the breadth and
depth of each industry's specific business
process requirements and maps them to SAP as well
as complementary partner solutions to complete
the end-to-end business process, including
Web-enabled processes. Accessible through the
Internet, solution maps give customers a powerful
planning tool for continuing to enhance and
refine their business processes for greater
efficiency and investment return.
SAP Solution Map displays the range of business
processes that are common to this industry.

8SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer
The SAP Advanced Planner and Optimizer (SAP APO)
provides a complete suite of supply chain
management tools,including forecasting, advanced
planning and scheduling, and available-to-promise
functions. SAP APO can process real-time data
from both SAP and non-SAP systems. To process the
large quantities of real-time business data
necessary for SAP APO, SAP has introduced
liveCache, a high-performance memorybased
computing technology with integrated business
functionality.

Using Sales Operations Planning (SOP), you Can
create realistic and consistent planning
figures and dates on the basis of expected sales
or other key figures of your choice. Then, in
Demand Management, these planning figures are
split down to product level and the demand
program is created. In Material Requirements
Planning (MRP), the system calculates the
quantities and procurement dates for the
necessary materials, right down to the raw
materials.
17Sales and Operation Planning
SOP is a flexible forecasting and planning tool
with which sales, production, and other supply
chain targets can be set on the basis of
historical, existing, and estimated future data.
Rough-cut planning can also be carried out to
determine the amounts of the capacities and other
resources required to meet these targets.
18Demand Management
The function of Demand Management is to determine
requirement quantities and delivery dates for
finished products assemblies. Customer
requirements are created in sales order
management. To create a demand program, Demand
Management uses planned independent requirements
and customer requirements.
