2What is Storm Water?
Rain that falls to earth, and is not absorbed
into the ground but travels across paved
surfaces like roads, parking lots and ramps to
storm drains is called
Storm Water!
3What is Storm Water Pollution?
When storm water travels across paved surfaces,
it picks up pollutants
!
like sediment, oils and garbage.
4These pollutants are carried to the storm drain
by the storm water. The storm water
and pollutants are then discharged to a local
stream, river or lake.
5Did you know?

safe enough to support fishing and swimming.

the largest sources of pollutants to lakes,
rivers and streams.
7What can YOU do about it?
