2ATF
(1) ATF2 Construction complete and beam operation
started. During summer shut-down (June to
October 2008), ATF-DR extraction line was
modified to the new design and connected to the
ATF2 final focus beam line. The commissioning of
ATF2 was held on January 2009. The beam was
transported to ATF2 beam dump without any
trouble. The tuning of ATF2 was just
started, together with the startup of nm-beam
position monitors and the laser interference
monitor.
(2) Low emittance tuning of ATF Damping Ring and
beam extraction stabilization. Fine alignment
survey was done during 2008 summer shutdown, high
resolution digital BPM circuits were introduced
for 20 out of 96. The rest of BPM will be
equipped high resolution in a few months.
(3) Experiment of ILC beam extraction from DR by
using fast kicker By installing 2 new
strip-line kicker together with auxiliary septum
magnet, beam extraction study was performed in
January 2009. Since the fast pulser was broken
unfortunately, the experiment was postponed.
3STF
(1) Completion of 4 cavities cryomodule, and its
successful opration The RF operation of 4
TESLA-style cavities in the short cryomodule was
performed. One of them reached 32MV/m pulsed
operation. For the flat pulse-top operation, it
reached to 30.1MV/m. The rests were 20MV/m.
Various aspect of the cryomodule performance were
tested. It is important experinece for the ILC
cryomodule construction.
(2) STF new EP-facility and the new Vertical Test
stand were become operational After about 6
month training of EP operation, EP facility was
commissioned by using FNAL 9 cell cavity,
together with the new vertical test stand. The
new fabrication of two TESLA-style cavities were
processed and tested in STF, and performed 27MV/m
for both, limited by field emission. The cell
performance showed gt32MV/m. They have a potential
to reach gt32MV/m. In order to reduce field
emission, new research of surface analysis was
started in 2008.
(3) Development of cavity inspection camera and
local grinding tool Use of cavity inspection
camera for industry fabrication made good
feedback to the fabricator. Every defect happened
during fabrication were checked and repaired
instantly. To assure the cure of damaged
cavity after fabrication, the local grinding tool
was developed. The grinding test for 9 cell
cavity was performed for DESY AC71. Collaboration
with Jlab for exchanging damaged single-cell
cavity is on schedule.
