2WHY NATURAL GAS TRUCKS AND BUSES?
3FUEL COST
4NATURAL GAS COSTS LESS THAN DIESEL

Weighs Altering School Bus Rules
6 The school system's diesel costs have more than
doubled in four years, from 3.6 million in
fiscal 2005 to a projected 7.9 million for
fiscal 2009, which begins next month. A
one-penny rise in price costs the school system
33,000 a year.Montgomery County, MD

10NATURAL GAS IS CLEANER THAN DIESEL FUEL
11Union of Concerned Scientists
Diesel is inherently dirtier than natural gas.
Numerous studies have linked diesel exhaust with
cancer, asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory
illnesses. There have been no studies linking
natural gas combustion and cancer.
12NATURAL GAS EMISSIONS ARE EASIER TO CLEAN

1410 VERY GOOD REASONS TO CHOOSE NATURAL GAS TRUCKS
BUSES
- Diesel prices have fallen from historic highs but
are likely to head north again. - Natural gas prices are substantially lower than
diesel prices and more stable. The Energy
Information Agency predicts that the spread in
prices between natural gas and diesel will
continue to grow. - New natural gas engine technology provides
comparable performance and efficiency to diesel
engines. - Hybrid electric trucks still require diesel fuel.
-
1510 VERY GOOD REASONS TO CHOOSE NATURAL GAS TRUCKS
BUSES
- 5. Diesel engines require extensive modification
to achieve new EPA emission standards. With these
add-ons, diesel engines are less efficient, more
difficult to service and more expensive to
purchase. - 6. Natural gas engines do not require any
expensive exhaust treatment to meet 2010 EPA
emission standards. - 7. Strategies to reduce emissions from older
diesel trucks now include the option of
repowering the trucks with new natural gas
engines. -
1610 VERY GOOD REASONS TO CHOOSE NATURAL GAS TRUCKS
BUSES
- 8. Funding is available to cut engine replacement
costs by 50 or more including up to a Federal
32,000 tax credit (non-taxable entities can also
benefit). - There are companies willing to build, without
upfront cost, on-site fueling stations for large
fleets. - Fleets can be green, stabilize their fuel costs
AND provide environmental benefit to their
employees and the communities they serve.
17The ESI Engine Technology
- NEW natural gas engine utilizes original
International diesel engine block design - The engine appearance is very similar to the
diesel pistons, rings, injectors, spark plugs,
head and electronics are the primary
modifications - No changes required to transmission, cooling
system, axle ratios
18 19The ESI Engine Technology
- Since engine appearance and many of its parts
are common to the diesel engine,
diesel technicians are quickly and
easily trained
20The ESI Engine Technology
- Diesel technicians easily trained
- Service and warranty provided through local
International Truck dealerships -
