New Dragons
  • The oldest continuously raced sport in the world,
Dragon Boat racing began on China's Mi-lo River
around 400 BC. Today, with well over a million
teams competing worldwide, it is the second most
popular sport on the planet. Poised in a 40 foot
long canoe with a carved dragon head and tail,
twenty men and women paddle with focus and
intensity, synchronized to the relentless beat of
    our drummer at the bow.

New College Orientation
  • Each spring, the New College Student Council
appoints an Orientation Chair Co-Chair to
oversee, alongside the Orientation Committee, the
planning of Orientation Week or Frosh Week.
Come September, months of hard work and extensive
planning conclude in an event packed week
intended to ease first-year students in their
transition from high school to university life.

Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards
  • The Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards
    recognize students for outstanding
    extra-curricular contributions to their college,
faculty, school or department, or to the
university as a whole. The awards were
established in 1994 by the University of Toronto
Alumni Association (UTAA) and the Division of
    University Advancement.
  • The UTAA named the awards after Gordon Cressy,
former U of T vice-president of development and
university relations, for his commitment to
higher education and his leadership in
    fundraising and community service. Similar
qualities of leadership and dedication are
demonstrated by the students chosen to receive
this award students who are committed to making
    a difference.

GRADitude
  • Twenty years ago you had to take a bat to an old
computer to get it replaced. That's what a group
of engineering students did, creating the first
GRADitude campaign in 1984. GRADitude is U of T's
    - and Canada's oldest - graduating class giving
    campaign.
  • Today, GRADitude continues to help students by
    primarily supporting student aid.

New Faces
  • New Faces is the recently ressurected drama
society at New College. Once a thriving group
known campus-wide for their annual productions,
New Faces had an almost 15 year hiatus before a
group of New College students saw the
construction of the William Doo Auditorium as the
perfect opportunity to ressurect the once popular
group. New Faces has since been alive the past 2
    years.
