Beautiful, smart, and perfect This is what
everyone thought about Alissa Brown. She has
the perfect grades, perfect boyfriend, perfect
friends, and the perfect life. Why cant I be
her? they would all say. Alissa was tall and
skinny with long, brown hair. There wasnt a
girl at Bridgeway High School that did not want
to be her, or a guy that did not want to date her.

Alissa, Kate yelled as soon as the bell
rang. Wanna hang out later? We can go to the
mall, movies, or whatever. I just have to get
away from home for a while. Kates parents had
already started talking about college, and it was
as if that was all they cared about. Well,
Jake and I are going to go get some pizza, but
youre welcome to tag along, Alissa replied.

Okay, I might. I will let you now later,
but I have to get to class. Mr. Patterson said
he is going to give me detention if Im late to
class again. They both giggled as they walked
away to go to their classes.

The rest of the day passed quickly, and
before Alissa knew it, the dismissal bell was
ringing. She met Jake and Kate in the auditorium
as she normally did. They immediately laid their
books down and started talking.

Alissa and Jake slowly made their way over
to a corner. They started to argue, and they
continued to raise their voices. Alissa looked
worried, and Kate could tell. Something is
going on between Alissa and Jake, Kate told
Melissa, a girl from her algebra class. Alissa
looks worried, and Im scared for her, but Im
sure she can handle everything herself.

Kate looked over at Alissa and Jake again,
but this time something happened. Jake had
Alissa pinned up against the wall and was yelling
at the top of his lungs. He suddenly grabbed her
and shoved her away. Her head slammed against
the metal pole, and she fell to the floor
lifelessly.

Shocked, Kate rushed over to them to see if
Alissa was okay. Jake, what were you
thinking? Get away from her, you. Jake
suddenly interrupted. I didnt mean to hurt
her. Im sorry. Is she okay? Shes not
breathing, Kate cried frantically. Someone
call 9-1-1!

Cut! Mrs. Andrews yelled. Not bad. With
a couple more rehearsals, youll be ready for the
play. Alissa got to her feet and yelled,
Hey, Jake, Kate, how about that pizza?
