Greensboro News Record 5/19/03
When Florida State coach Bobby Bowden got a
sneak preview of N.C. States new Murphy Football
Center this spring, he was impressed even before
he entered the building. I like the wolves,
Bowden said, referring to the 42-foot monument,
featuring six wolves, that looms over the plaza
in front of the main entrance.

About the Artist
Nationally acclaimed as one of the most talented
sculptors, painters and creators of wildlife art
today, Dick Idol is also regarded as one of
Americas premier outdoorsmen. He has
spent thirty years as a professional guide,
naturalist, writer, editor, public speaker,
conservationist, photographer, woodsman and
co-founder of North American Whitetail Magazine.
Dicks strongest passion, and perhaps his
greatest talent, was awakened in 1994 with the
completion of his first bronze sculpture of a
whitetail deer. His unparalleled body of artwork
since, including more than 40 bronze editions,
more bronze Ultra monumental sculptures than
any living artist and numerous paintings and
drawings, has established him as a true American
Master. Although most of Dicks sculptures are
purchased solely as works of art, an exceptional
business model was developed that allows
universities and other organizations to
commission world-class bronze monuments to serve
as icons of their school or group and to raise
significant funds through the sale of bronze and
resin reproductions to alumni, fans, students,
parents and corporate supporters.
18
Subject Matter and Pricing
Although Dick Idol is one of the worlds foremost
experts on North American wildlife, his first
love was whitetail deer. His early commissions
were almost entirely for sculptures of
whitetails. In the past few years, Mr. Idol has
been able to show his talent for creating bronze
masterpieces of different animals. He is adept
at sculpting almost any subject including
Antelopes Badgers Bearcats Beavers Blue
Jays Bobcats Broncos Buffaloes/Bisons Bulldogs Bul
ls Cardinals Chargers Cougars
Moose Mountain Lions Mustangs Owls Panthers Rams S
harks Stallions Terriers Tigers Wildcats Wolverine
s Wolves And More

Mr. Idols monuments can include special water,
lighting and audio effects if desired and range
in price from less than 10,000 to more than 1
million depending upon the size, subject and
effects.

Dancing Whitetails Series
A dramatic sculpture of eight whitetail deer in
three separate but complimentary scenes standing
15 feet tall situated in moving water within four
hundred feet of man-made streams.  "Interactive
effects" including water dripping from lifted
hooves, jet sprays of water suggesting the
splashes of running deer, and underwater lighting
creating a "dancing of light" movement across the
sculptures have been combined to create one of
our era's most dramatic wildlife monuments.
