Title: Cass City TeenCommunity Center Presentation
1Cass City Teen/Community Center Presentation
- Presented by Mrs. Volz Eighth Grade Social
Studies Students
2How We Got Started
MISSION STATEMENT It is our belief that members
in our community need a safe, healthy, fun
environment.
- Mrs.Volz had us start a project for social
studies. She wanted us to become responsible
citizens and we decided to try to start a teen
center. - We wanted a place where people can go and have
fun in a safe environment. - This is something that all of the students in
this group are passionate about.
3Moving From Teen Center To Community Center
- At first we just wanted a place where teens could
go. - Then we realized that Senior citizens in our
community didnt have a place to go either. - We decided that during our school hours the
senior citizens could go to the community center
to play bingo or cards.
4Meeting with Mr.Sheridan
- The first person we met with was the village
manager, Mr. Sheridan. - He suggested that we first make sure that we
have a need for a Teen Center.
5Surveys
- At our meeting with Mr.Sheridan he suggested that
we conduct surveys. - We made a middle school survey and a high school
survey.
6High School Survey Results
Would you go to a Community Center if we had one
in Cass City?
How many times in 1 month do you think you would
go to the Center?
7 Middle School Survey Results
Would you go to a Community Center if we had one
in Cass City?
How many times in 1 month would you go to the
Center?
8Meeting with Char Kruger and Brad Spiers
- We also had a meeting with Char Kruger and Brad
Spiers. - Char and Brad said they both supported us.
- Brad suggested that if we were going to vary the
ages for people in the community center then we
should make different times for them to go. - Char suggested that we have a work card.
9Meeting with Kay Warner
- In March we had a meeting with Kay Warner.
- Mrs.Warner suggested that instead of buying a
building for the community center we rent one.
