Yeti
  • The Yeti is supposedly found in the Himalayan
    Mountains in Nepal
  • They roam the mountainsides to go from valley to
    valley
  • Sightings go back to ancient times
  • Native sherpas still tell stories about
  • the scary, ape-like, monsters

3
Physical Characteristics
  • The Abominable Snowman
  • is said to look like this
  • Its fur is actually not white
  • but a dark brown
  • They stand nine feet tall and
  • look very much like a giant,
  • hairy, ape-like, man

4
The Name
  • The Name Yeti actually means Magical Creature
    in the native Sherpas language
  • How we got the name Abominable Snowman, no one
    really knows
  • Most scientists think that we accidentally
translated Yeti to ugly creature when we
changed ugly to abominable. Thus, the abominable
    snowman.

5
Common Evidence
  • Yeti Poop
    Footprints
  • Some Scientists say that this Many
    footprints have
  • Yeti poop is not of any been
    found over the
  • animal known to man course
    of 200 years

6
The Yeti is Real!
7
Eureka!
  • Anthony B. Wooldridge found
  • and photographed these footprints.
  • They are approximately 250 mm long.
  • Probably the most well-known evidence for belief
in the Yetis existence is a film shot by
Bigfoot hunters Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin on
    Oct 20, 1967.

8
More Evidence
  • Yeti Scat picked up November 24, 2002. Weight was
    one pound, four ounces.
  • The Shipton Photo, taken by Eric Shipton on the
Menlung Glacier in 1951. It remains unexplained
    to this day.

9
Even More Evidence
  • A Yeti
  • researcher
  • took this photograph
  • when he was
  • looking for yeti tracks.

10
Incidents
  • One Sherpa girl, who was tending
  • her yaks, described being surprised
  • by a large ape-like creature with
  • black and brown hair. It started to
  • drag her off, but seemed to be
  • startled by her screams and let
  • her go. It then savagely killed two
  • of her yaks. She escaped with her
  • life and the incident was reported
  • to the police, who found footprints.

11
Incidents (ctd.)
  • Also, in many instances, people that have
ventured into the woods have found missing cows,
yaks, dogs, and other animals that are mutilated.
Though very disgusting, this is a seemingly habit
of the Yeti. They take particular interest in
only eating the left eye, left ear, and soft part
of the nose. The tendrils of the animals are also
taken out. This ritual is similar to Bigfoot.
In the area, there is also always a pile of
sticks or stones in the form of a pyramid or
teepee. Scientists have begun to think that this
    is a territorial marker.

12
The Ending
  • Like this picture
  • implies, people may
  • be oblivious to it but
  • the Yeti is real!
