Calculating your GPA
  • For purposes of calculation, the grade point (GP)
    earned in a 0.5 credit will be given half the
    weight of that earned in a 1.0 credit.
  • For example, a student with an A (11.0) in a 1.0
    credit, a C- (2.0) in a 0.5 credit will receive a
    GPA of 8.67 (13.0 grade points divided by 1.5
    credits)

Repeated Courses
  • No course may be attempted more than twice
  • Can retake up to a maximum of 2.0 credits and the
    new grade replaces the old grade in the GPA
    calculation
  • First attempt stays on your transcript

  • GPA includes all WLU courses, cross-registration,
    letter of permission, NU2020 and NU2095
  • 70 overall (7.0 or B-) to progress
  • Nipissing
  • GPA includes all Education courses
  • 70
  • Must pass your practice teaching

  • General
  • Need a 5.0 average in your CT courses
  • Need a 7.0 overall
  • Minors
  • Need a 4.5 average in courses counting towards
    the minor
  • Honours
  • Need a 5.0 average in your Honours CT courses to
    progress, a 7.0 to graduate
  • 7.0 overall

Academic Probation
  • Nipissing
  • You can request to continue for one year (ending
    in April) on probation if your overall GPA is
    between 6.0 and 7.0
  • Only do this once
  • Laurier
  • Overall GPA between 2.0 and 4.0
  • Have the time it takes to complete 4.0 credits to
    raise your GPA to 4.0

Things to Consider
  • The quickest way to raise your GPA is to retake
    up to 2.0 credits
  • Only retake courses where you think you can
    improve upon your first grade
  • Your Arts and Education grades count towards 2
    separate GPAs
