in favor. - Feed RCs all IPMS info on a regular basis
26Director of Foreign Liaison Update
- Developed a formal policy for establishing
Special Interest Groups (SIG's) - Updated list of foreign branches and established
or reestablished contact with other branches
which had lapsed over the years. - Started formal newsletter swaps with IPMS Canada,
Finland, United Kingdom, with several Central and
South American and European swaps working - Established a small groups of translators for
foreign magazines
27Director of Foreign Liaison Update
- Established a modeling around the World column in
the Journal - We will be adding SIG pages to the web site after
the convention - We added two new SIG's, CVN for carrier aviation
and What If? for modeling "what might have been."
Several other groups have expressed interest in
forming SIG's as well - We have attempted to contact every SIG leader
listed in the Journal via email and snail mail to
determine the status of the SIG
28Director of Foreign Liaison Update
- IPMS USA set up our first branch table at the
IPMS/UK Scale Modelworld 40th anniversary show
giving us our first formal overseas presence. - We are continuing to work in improvements in all
of the areas above, especially in the area of SIG
recruitment and publicity and improving ties with
foreign branches and adding new magazine swaps
29 Journal Update
- Journal cost is coming down as the editor does
more of the work formerly performed by the
printer. In the past 12 months IPMS has saved
3200.00 even with increasing costs and a full
color (winners pictures) convention issue. - Savings are continuing each issue. Hopefully
another 1500.00 over the next three issues. - Postage costs are going up. We are trying a new
service on foreign mailing. Same cost as the
USPS but better delivery. Have to wait and see
on this one.
