• Medicine comes labeled with directions.

• Narcotics are drugs or medicine that relieve
  pain.
• They can be used illegally or legally.
• Anesthetics, Morphine

Illegal Drugs

• Prescribed medicine can become illegal when it is
  not used properly (directions not followed, sold,
  given away.
• Illegal drugs can contain various chemicals.
• Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroine

Drug Abuse

• Drugs abuse typically means the overuse of a
  drug, leading to devastating consequences.

Stimulants

• Stimulants speed up the body (nervous system).
• Coffee, soft drinks, cigarrettes, cocaine

Amphetamines/Methamphetamines

• Amphetamines are strong stimulants.
• Crystal meth, cocaine

Depressants

• Depressants slow down the body (nervous system)
• Alcohol, marijuana, codeine

Inhalants

• Inhalants produce an effect similar to
  depressants. They cause brain damage!
• Gasoline, glue, aerosols, paint thinner.

Hallucinogens

• Hallucinogens cause you to see and hear things
  that may not really be there.
• Most are natural. Some are synthetic.
• Psychotropic mushrooms, LSD, MDMA (Ecstasy)
