4Information Literacy Student Achievement
16 states have researched the impact of school
libraries on student achievement Studies show
the correlation of higher test scores at all
grade levels in schools where students use school
librariesto learn and practice the information
literacy skills they will need to excel on tests
and as lifelong learners. Elementary school
students with the most collaborative
teacher/librarians scored 21 higher on
Colorados student assessment A study in Iowa
showed that the highest scoring students on a
standardized test use more than 2 ½ times as many
library resources during library
