INTRODUCTION
  • We are going to read a story titled COUNT! In
    this story we are going to count animals.

  • Count ! By Denise Fleming.
  • PENCILS.
  • PAPER
  • CRAYONS

Before Reading
  • What are some of the things that we can count in
    our classroom?
  • Counting is to find the total number of objects.
  • I am going to read a book titled COUNT! Lets
    take a picture walk.
  • What did you see in the book?

DURING READING
  • As I read COUNT!.... I will stop to practice
    counting. I will first model counting by
    pointing to the animals on each page Then as I
    read I will allow students to count. Who can
    count the fish?

After Reading
  • After reading I will ask children to retell the
    story and ask them these questions.
  • 1 .How many crocodiles?
  • 2.How many zebras?
  • 3.How many giraffes?
  • How many worms?
  • .

Beyond reading
  • .I will give a paper and crayon to children to
    draw their favorite animal from the story.
  • I will give children a paper to trace numbers
    from 1 to 10.
  • Children will watch a video on counting numbers
