Brief History

• Mexico was the site of some of the earliest and
  most advanced civilizations in the western
  hemisphere. The first major Mesoamerican
  civilization was established by the Olmec, who
  flourished between about 1500 and 600 BC.

Places to Visit

• Ancient Ruins
• There are numerous ancient ruins of Mayan
  civilization along the Yucatan Peninsula.
• Recommended Ruins
• Chichen Itza has some of the largest buildings of
  the ancient Mayan cities.
• Tulum is spectacular as the only city built above
  a beach.
• Coba has buildings spread over a dense forest and
  lake.

• Cancun Playa del Carmen
• Cancun is now the biggest resort of the
  Caribbean. All along boulevard Kukulcan are
  hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, and visitor
  attractions.
• If you prefer a beach-town atmosphere to the long
  hotel strip of Cancun, Playa del Carmen is an
  ideal choice.

• Puerto Morelos Akumal
• Puerto Morelos is a quite fishing town which has
  avoided over development and retains a low key
  unhurried atmosphere.
• Akumal is a favorite dive destination, with
  fabulous reefs and places for cave diving.

• For the whole family
• Xcaret provides a spectacular introduction to the
  richness and variety of a tropical environment,
  all in one space.
• Xel-Ha is a snorkel park created around a a
  natural coastal lagoon.
• Parque Nizuc is water park which has an
  interactive dolphin pool, a snorkeling pool with
  innocent rays sharks, and a bungee-jump.

• Cenotes Caves
• Cenotes, sink-holes or water-filled caves in
  Spanish, are among the unmissable features of the
  Yucatan.

Vacation Tips

• Driving
• If you plan on driving make sure you leave
  abundant time to find the place such as a
  restaurant, or your hotel.
• Unless its a big town such as Cancun or Playa
  del Carmen, the other towns have very little to
  no street signs.

• Food Beverages
• Try to drink canned or bottled beverages.
• Make sure your food is fully cooked to prevent E.
  Coli.

Vacation Tips

• Mosquitoes
• Be sure to pack bug repellant. These mosquitoes
  attack mercilessly.
• Also, remember to bring some kind of ointment or
  cream to put on your bites. They can get very
  itchy.
