Action verbs and direct objects
  • DIRECT OBJECT Follows an action verb and
    receives the action from the verb
  • Direct Objects are NEVER in prepositional phrases

  • FACT- Action verbs that have direct objects are
    called transitive verbs. Any verbs that do not
    have direct objects are called intransitive verbs.

Diagramming direct and indirect objects
  • Direct objects will go on a line next to the verb
    with a vertical line in between them (this DOES
    NOT go through the horizontal line!)
