9WP 2000 ACTION LINES FOR MOBILE AND SATELLITE
COMMUNICATIONS
Action Lines in the 3rd Call should not be seen
in isolation from those called in subsequent
calls Integration of various access
technologies contributes to the further longer
term evolution towards 4G (4the Call) and to the
further evolution of software reconfigurable
systems and networks (call 5). The subsequent
calls should thus open the possibility to take
maximum advantage of the work put in place
through the first three calls.
10AL IV.5.2 Terrestrial wireless systems and

- Wireless systems and networks in relation to
- provision of interactive multimedia services for
mobile terrestrial broadcasting, the multimedia
home platform, and broadband wireless access
Integration mobile broadcasting. - evolution of UMTS phase 1 towards all IP
networks - It includes
- seamless service provision and transparency
across a multiplicity of radio accesses - IP mobility issues with support of discrete and
cellular mobility QoS management, radio
resource control mechanisms and protocols. - optimisation of network performance in
heterogeneous contexts with a variety of
asymmetric services (e.g. call admission policy,
customisation of user environment) and multiple
radio environments, - associated technologies for efficient dynamic
spectrum usage/sharing, - technological/system aspects for the roaming of
location services exploiting terrestrial or
satellite location data.
