4FD Charter
- MISSION STATEMENT
- The Flight Projects Directorate (FD)
conceptualizes, develops, integrates, and
operates flight and ground systems in support of
NASAs objectives. -
- RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages the project planning, budgeting,
scheduling, engineering design, development,
testing, and cost control of assigned flight
hardware programs/projects. - Directs and conducts mission operations for
assigned missions. - Manages, develops, and operates mission ground
systems to providecommand and control capability
for flight payloads and systems. - Provides management oversight of future space
flight projects assigned to MSFC that are
crosscutting functions associated with immediate
and longrange objectives and goals of NASA and
MSFC. - Exercises authority for the overall management of
the Chandra X-Ray Observatory Program. - Directs cargo integration effort consisting of
analytical and physical integration activities to
successfully interface cargo to carriers,
carriers to Launch Vehicle, or cargo to launch
Vehicle. - Provides technical excellence in operations and
integration activities in support of space
transportation systems at MSFC.
