Surgery clerkship)

6Elective Criteria

- Might have prerequisites
- Must be 4 wks in length
- Must be taken within Loyola system
- Only one third year elective permitted
- Grade based on written Exam and
subjective assessment

7Where does the 3rd Yr Elective Fit?

- To add a third year elective, a student must
defer a 3rd yr clerkship to Year IV - 4 wks of surgery (gen surgery) OR
- 4 wks of medicine (inpt medicine) OR
- One six week required clerkship (fam med, peds,
OB, psych)

8When would the deferred clerkship be taken?

- A postponed Yr 3 clerkship or partial
- clerkship must be completed in the
- summer or at the start of year 4
- No grade will be reported for
- incomplete year 3 clerkships
- until the rotation is finished in Year 4
- Year 4 track will be altered to
- accommodate the change
