DrChecks SEARCH Options
More than 100,000 comments have been entered into
the DrChecks system. That database of comments
could be a useful resource for you before a
project is started, or before conducting a
review. The database can be searched very
quickly using keyword searches. There are two
types of searches --- one is a search of the
entire comment database. This type of search will
likely yield the most results, but you will only
be able to see the comment itself. If you see a
comment youd like to know more about (how it got
resolved, the context/application, etc), use the
email link to contact the person who made the
comment. Though the comments found in this type
of search could very well be project specific, it
is still a quick, easy tool to use. The second
type of search queries the corporate lessons
learned database. The comments in this database
have been screened and only included if they have
broad appeal (not project specific). The search
results from this database include more
information --- Problem, Solution, Evaluation,
etc. You will likely get fewer hits from this
type of search, but they might be more useful.
Try both. The following slides show how to do
these searches. First, the entire database ..

From the main login screen click on DrChecks
Next, click on the Search Tab

Now fill in the search specification that suits
your needs ..
Too many results --- refine your search by using
multiple keywords Too few results --- avoid
multiple keywords and/or choose a similar, but
more common term

To query the Lessons Learned Database, choose
Design Quality LL from the main login screen ..

Next, choose the Search tab
Now, fill in the keyword(s) or phrase and choose
the sites you want to query. Any will yield the
most results.
