Who are mummies?
Information Slide

• Mummies are people who have died and their body
  has been preserved. First, the body needs to be
  dried out, so that no water will be able to enter
  the body. The mummy can be so well preserved
  that people can actually tell who the dead body
  is after many years.

The Mummification Process

• The mummification process is a long process that
  takes seventy days to embalm a body
• First, the body is washed and purified
• Second, the inner organ needs to be removedthe
  intestines, liver, the stomach and the lungs.
  Next, the organs are individually wrapped and
  placed in canopic jars(pictured displayed at
  the bottom).

• Next, Natron is used during embalming a body
  which dry out the organs and minimize bacteria.
• The body is placed on an embalming table and
  covered with Natron.
• Finally, the mummy is ready for bandages and the
  funeral
