An emergent district High Tech in Pisa. An
overview
  • After a decrease in the number of high tech
    enterprises in 2003 (-1.6), years 2004 and 2005
have shown an increase of 8.3 and 3.3
respectively. In addition, 50 of the enterprises
    are increasing their workforce.
  • According to the firms turnover, 2004 has been
positive year for Pisas high tech 77.3 of them
were increasing, only 9.1 decreasing and 13.6
stayed fixed. 2005 has also been a positive year
66.7 high tech enterprises increasing, 22.2
    decreasing and 11.1 fixed.
  • The outlet market is dominated by Italian
enterprises that cover up to 79.8 of the
turnover. The provinces outlet market represents
12.9, it is made of 75 high tech firms and 25
traditional manufacturing. The reason seems to be
the misunderstanding of the potential clients of
the advantages derived from new technologies and
    their use.
  • Nevertheless, the high tech entrepreneurs foresee
an increase of 3.5 (in a scale of 1few and 5a
lot) in the commercial relationship with the
local traditional market. They also foresee an
increase of 3.1 with the local high tech market

Towards fully recognised Pisa high-tech what we
are doing ?
  • Governance. Action Plan aim to recompose a
fragmented, atomistic and complex governance and
provide joint and agreed orientation guidelines
  • Imagery. Strengthen the territory profile as a
territory that believes and want to growth by
high tech, together with other productive sector
. Message on high-tech should be pervasive and
obsessive as to became a sort of self-fulfilling
    prophecy
  • We expect enterprises told us we do not want
services from the public sector, rather we
want public sector helps us to associate each
others and commit itself to the district
    governance
