• Student Information Sheet/Form (SIS/SIF)
• Districts contract with testing contractor for
  pre-code
• Many districts did not pre-code
• Special Education and Invalidation codes

MAP Data Collection 2006

• DESE contract with testing contractor for
  pre-code
• Most districts will participate in pre-code
• Pre-coded student barcode labels
• Special Education and Invalidation on the SIS

Why Pre-Code?

• Increased data quality/decreased data correction
• Decrease data reporting burden
• MOSIS ID
• Ability to monitor student performance over time

• Districts submit pre-code file to DESE
• DESE submits file to testing contractor
• Barcode label and pre-code roster generated
• Districts verify information on barcode label and
  pre-code roster

• Security District-level MOSIS access
• Cannot submit pre-code without prior MOSIS
  submission
• Multiple batches vs. single saved trial
• Some overlap in data collected

Correcting Errors

• Correct errors online works well for small
  numbers of violations
• - Remember to download corrected file into
  local system
• Correct in local Student Record System and
  re-submit file works well when there are a
  large number of errors or several errors of the
  same type
