Purchase on Demand via Acquisitions UI Criteria

• Books only (no dissertations, music CDs, videos,
  DVDs, microfilm)
• If published within past 12 months and not owned
  by an Iowa or CIC library
• If published within past 16 months and not owned
  by any library on OCLC (or only LC)
• 50 limit (higher amounts must be approved by
  bibliographer)

• ILL Staff identify books using criteria
• ILL Librarian verifies and sends joint message to
  acquisitions and ILL patron
• Acquisitions rush orders or rushes if on approval
  plan
• Acquisitions receives, processes, and sends to
  circulation
• Circulation staff send out e-mail message to
  original ILL patron of availability
• Patron picks up material and checks out
• ILL Librarian tracks records manually

• Cheap, depending on subscription
• User agreement okay for libraries
• Due dates flexible, no overdues
• Dont have to send out multiple requests via OCLC
  so saves staff time
