Tobacco Use Prevention Program
  • The Kansas Tobacco Use Prevention Program
    provides resources, technical assistance and
    education for policy change to community
    coalitions for development, enhancement, and
    evaluation of state and local initiatives to
    prevent morbidity and mortality from tobacco use
    addiction.

Four Programs GoalsNational, State and Local
  • Preventing the initiation of tobacco use among
    young people.
  • Promoting quitting among young people and adults.
  • Eliminating nonsmokers' exposure to environmental
    tobacco smoke (ETS).
  • Identifying and eliminating the disparities
    related to tobacco use and its effects among
    different population groups.

  • Kansas Tobacco Quitline to assist tobacco users

  • Comprehensive tobacco control program in five
    communities
  • Comprehensive tobacco control program funds
    increased by 500,000
  • Comprehensive tobacco-free workplace ordinances
    across the state
  • Kansas Tobacco Quitline (1-866-KAN-STOP)
  • Capacity in 44 counties, which comprise more that
    75 of the states populations
  • TASK since 2000 (impact, rallies, mini-grants)
