- Welcome
- Thanks for volunteering and being a part of
ESLL for the 2009 season! This is our 53rd year
and we count on our volunteers annually to make
our league a success. There are many
opportunities to serve the league in addition to
managing/coaching a team. Please call or
approach us about how you can help! -

- Why are we here?
- Little League is a program of service to
youth. It is geared to provide an outlet of
healthful activity and training under good
leadership in the atmosphere of wholesome
community participation. The movement is
dedicated to helping children become good and
decent citizens. It inspires them with a goal
and enriches their lives toward the day when they
must take their place in the world. It
establishes the values of teamwork, sportsmanship

Rules
5Volunteer Orientation Program
- What do I need to do to Volunteer?
- Little League International Rules require
- -ESLL to conduct an annual background check,
- which includes a criminal and Sex
Offenders Registry search, and - -Maintain a volunteer application form with
photo ID before serving - -This check is provided by the League
- This applies to all
- Managers/Coaches/Board of Directors
members and, - any persons, volunteers, and/or hired
workers, who provide - regular service to the league and /or
have repetitive access - to, or contact with players or teams.

- What do I need to do to volunteer?
- Please note
- -Failure to submit to the background check,
sex offender check and/or - -Failure to complete volunteer application

- Will result in immediate dismissal
- Note
- Any person,with a conviction of a
crime against or involving - minors cannot participate in the
league. This information is not - in the public domain, and is managed
by our league president. - If you have any questions, please

- What are the coachs responsibilities?
- ESLL Policy
- During the regular and tournament season,
managers or coaches who participate in other
youth baseball or softball programs, excluding
school programs, are not eligible to manage or
coach in East Side Little League. It is
difficult, if not impossible to to be
appropriately committed to managing or coaching a
team in our program while at the same time being
involved in coaching a team in a competing
program. -
- -If an individual is found to be involved as
a coach in a competing league, running concurrent
with our program, he or she, subject to review
by the Executive Board, may have their service
terminated immediately by ESLL.

- What is the players responsibility?
- LL International regular season and tournament
play rules - Players may choose to participate (double
roster) in other summer baseball or softball
programs during the regular and tournament
seasonHowever, according to LL International
Rules - Consistent with a managers ability to
conduct the affairs of his or her team, a manager
may remove a player from the team, subject to the
Board of Directors approval, for the current
season, if the player repeatedly misses practices
or games. - If a player repeatedly misses practices or
games, the manager must make the Board of
Directors aware of the situation immediately. -

- Whats New in 09?
- Little League Bats for majors division or below
can not be longer that 33 and have a barrel more
than 2 ¼ in diameter - A pitcher who delivers 41 or more pitches per
game, can not play the position of catcher for
the remainder of the day - Optional Local catcher rule with 2 outs

situations in LL Baseball and other youth sports
