Summer 2008
This years Summer Fayre will be held on August
16th 12 3pm and will again be in aid of the
County Air Ambulance. There are many ways you
can help to make it a big success donations of
plants, fruit, vegetables, cakes, bric-a-brac,
tombola prizes, cut flowers, etc. Can you display
a poster in your local shop, takeaway, pub,
library? Can you help to put things out on the
day and clear up afterwards? We will be very
grateful for any offers of help so please see
Dave or Betty. Thank you.
Albert Upton, plot 94, will be celebrating his
90th birthday on July 23rd. Congratulations to
Albert from all at Walsall Rd Allotments.
SITUATION VACANT A fantastic opportunity has
arisen for you to show your skill at making tea,
coffee and toast on Sunday mornings. Many of our
previous employees have gone on to open their own
successful roadside transport cafes. No previous
experience necessary as full training will be
given. The hours are 10 am to 12 noon on Sunday
mornings only. We are prepared to make this post
a job-share if lots of you apply for it. It
takes place in our state-of-the-art kitchen at
the pavilion and is open to all, regardless of
sexual orientation, race, religion or political
beliefs. Even vegetarians can apply. You will be
rewarded for this work beyond your wildest
dreams, it just wont be with money. Seriously..
we would like more names on the tea/toast rota so
if you, or a member of your family would like to
help out, please see Betty. Thanks!
Come and have a cuppa!
Everything stops for tea at 12 noon each weekday.
If the weather is fine we sit outside, otherwise
inside the pavilion. Come and join us and have a
chat and a slice of cake with your tea or coffee.
No charge, but donations appreciated for the
Air Ambulance.

his death in 2004. Keith grew some fabulous
dahlias and often won the Giant Pumpkin

As a committee we are always looking at ways we
can make things better for the site.
Plot-holders views are really important too.
So looking round the allotments, are there any
improvements that you would like to see? Please
put your comments below and leave in the box in
the pavilion.
