SADD FACTS

• Statistics
• In 1997, 5477 young people died in motor vehicle
  crashes. 21 of the young drivers involved in
  fatal crashes had been drinking.
• In the last decade, over 68,000 teens have died
  in car crashes.
• 1/4 of fatally injured teen drivers (16-20) in
  1995 had a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) at
  or above .10, even though all were under the
  minimum legal drinking age and are not legally
  permitted to purchase alcohol.

• If you crash maybe you wont die
• If you crash so wont fly out the window
• It could save your life
• Reduce risk of injury
• Restraint in an accident
• They keep you in your seat
• You could get hurt without one
• BUCKLING UP IS THE LAW..
• Infants should always be in child car seat
• You wont get a ticket
• In 1997, over 60 of youth (16-20) that died in
  passenger vehicle crashes were not wearing seat
  belts.

SADD SMOKING FACTS

• 89 of all people who ever try a
• cigarette try by age 18. Of people who have ever
  smoked daily, 71 were smoking by age 18.

• 40 of teenagers who smoke daily have tried to
  quit and have failed
• 70 of teenage smokers say they would not have
  started smoking if they could choose again
