What is Authority Control?
  • Authority Control Maintenance of established
headings, both within an Authority file and
within bibliographic files of library catalogs
through the creation of one standard form of a
name or word under which a person or concept can
be identified and searched within a catalog. Also
involves the creation of cross-reference names or
    terms.

    concept
  • Helps organize integrated library systems
