10What is Authority Control?
- Authority Control Maintenance of established
headings, both within an Authority file and
within bibliographic files of library catalogs
through the creation of one standard form of a
name or word under which a person or concept can
be identified and searched within a catalog. Also
involves the creation of cross-reference names or
terms. - From http//www.lib.usm.edu/techserv/cat/glossar
