Technique

• Breakdown the question and make sure you know
  exactly what youve been asked to do.
• With a pen, mark the relevant section in the
  text.
• Start at the beginning of this section and work

Information Retrieval

• Questions

• Answers
• - Make relevant points and include evidence.
• - Use shows and suggests and tells the
  reader etc
• Try to make 11 points

Information Retrieval

• I learn that Buddy was a lot older than Hazel.
  He was eighteen and had quit school to work
  in a garage. He drank beer but only when he
  wasnt out with her. He made her anxious because
  she didnt know how to talk to him.

• I think that Hazel and Buddy didnt have a very
  close relationship, as it ended suddenly. I
  feel that her father was being fair by giving her
  the decision whether to go out or not. I think
  she was right to rearrange to the next night.

• Hazel thinks that Buddy wasnt a dream but he
  was cute, which suggests that she thinks shes
  been quite lucky and that counted for a lot.
  Shes happy because she could pass for normal
  and she was included in girly conversations...

• The writer suggest that the relationship wont
  last by tellings us that Hazel felt she couldt
  explain things to Buddy about her family, which
  shows that their relationship isnt open. It also
  says she was vague about where she was going.

Endings

• Buddy is accuing her of not loving him, calling
  her bluff and I feel that hes entitled to do
  this since she isnt being honest with him.
  Following this phone conversation, Hazel is
  feeling guilty because, in my opinion, she knows
  he is right she doesnt really love him.

  reactions to each thing that happens.
