• The classical era began approximately
  1759until1820.
• Mozart was born in 1732. He began composing in
  1736 at the age of 4.

Mozarts birth

• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born January,27,1756
  in Salzburg, Austria in to Leopold and Anna-Maria
  Mozart.
• The Mozarts lived here from 1747-1773. The
  rooms once occupied by them serve as a museum.

Family Life

• Wolfgangs father was a court composer in
  Salzburg for the Archbishop of Salzburg. Leopold
  was Mozarts first music teacher.
• Mozarts mother was very close to her children
  and often accompanied Wolfgang on his tours of
  Europe.
• Nannerl, Wolfgangs older sister, was also a very
  gifted musician.

The Requiem Mass

• The Requiem Mass was commissioned in the summer
  of 1791 under mysterious circumstances.
• Mozart, his health deteriorating, believed he was
  composing his own death Mass.
• Mozart died on December 5th, 1791 before its
  completion.

Mozarts Death

• There is still much speculation on what caused
  Mozarts death.
• What is known is that his health slowly began to
  deteriorate over the course of many years.
• At the end of his career he was working
  constantly and this is said to have contributed
  to his illness.
• He died on December 5th, 1791 bankrupt. Wofgang
  Amadeus Mozart was buried in a mass grave in
  Vienna, Austria.
