Swinging In A Hammock Not!
By Katie J.
- Broad-leaved trees are called Hammocks.
- Hammocks are found in areas where the ground
level is high enough to prevent seasonal
flooding. - The soil is fairly shallow and builds up.
- The trees do not grow very tall due to damage
which exposed portions receive from cold and
hurricanes. - Fire is uncommon occurrence due to the lack of
accumulated fuel and the cold, moist environment. - In the story the characters live in a peaceful
hammock where tropical animals surround them.
They can live there without anyone knowing they
do not have a home, so they do not have to live
in a shelter. -

Leprosy - They live in holes called burrows
- They eat insects and capture 50 to 60 bugs at a

Armadillos were in the book The Missing Gator Of
Gumbo Limbo, when Liza K. looked for Dajun. She
watched the armadillos build their burrows and
find their food. One purpose of this book was to
inform you, like when it said armadillos are shy
(and they are.) Also armadillos are an important
part of the food chain because they eat insects
and keep the population down. So whether theyre
shy or eat insects, armadillos are useful in many
ways.
