are many fjords, which are long, narrow, deep
inlets of the sea located between steep cliffs.
  • Mountains There are several mountain ranges in
Europe including the Pyrenees, the Alps, and the
    Ural Mountains.
  • There are also many plains, large flat areas of
    land, usually without many trees.
  • The Great European Plain has some of the worlds
    richest farmland.

Climate
  • Europe gets warm air and water from the Gulf
Stream, but it still has severely cold winters in
the mountains and in the north.
  • Some cold air is pushed down from the Arctic
    Circle.
  • The countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea
are protected from the wind because of mountains
such as the Alps and Pyrenees, so they experience
    warmer temperatures year round.

12
Natural Resources
  • Europe has lots of natural resources including
    minerals.
  • Coal (Germany)
  • Used for energy.

    rainfall.
