- 23 - hydrologic budget units within the project
area. - Units are based on natural boundaries,
watersheds, geology, geography, and community
areas. - Drilled production wells of 6 diameter or
greater.
12RECHARGE MAP
- Draft generated using preliminary groundwater
recharge model. - This map is conceptual - model will be revised to
include - evapotranspiration equations
- subsurface storage estimates
- forest cover values
- Recharge data will be used to identify water
resources for potential development.

- No public water system poor fire protection.
- The district has highest brushfire hazard area in
the County. - Private citizen water supplies may be tapped for
fighting fires. - Homeowners insurance difficult to acquire and
renew.

- There are no public schools in Ocean View.
- Over 300 children are bused to schools 20 to 40
miles away. - A public school can not be built without an
approved water supply.

- Approximately 90 of the study area is in lava
hazard 2. - 15-25 of this zone has been covered by lava
flows since 1800. - Significant potential for property loss and
economic devastation.
