  • GRIP

GRIP
  • Hold the club with the left hand.
  • Position the club into the mid-knuckle point of
    the index finger of the left hand.
  • Wrap the fingers of the left hand around the grip
    of the club.
  • Wrap the upper part of the left hand around the
    shaft of the club so that the left pad wraps over
    the grip and clasps it.
  • Place the left thumb pointing down the top right
    hand quarter of the grip, with the V in line
    with the right shoulder.

GRIP
  • Make sure that the left hand line or V points
    straight up the right shoulder from the left
    thumb and the left side of the palm.
  • Place your right hand over the left hand
    maintaining the V.
  • Place the club in the mid-knuckle point of the
    right hand, and move it up the grip towards the
    left hand.
  • Overlap or interlock the little finger of the
    right hand with the index finger of the left
    hand.

GRIP
  • When the fingers of the right hand are in
    position, the lifeline of the right hand should
    cover the left thumb from the top to the bottom.
  • The right thumb covers from the top of the left
    hand quarter of the grip, Creating a V on line
    with the right shoulder, parallel to the left
    hand line

ALIGNMENT
  • Step in with your back foot.
  • Bend the spine forward and down to put the club
    square behind the ball.
  • Look down the target line.
  • Spread the front foot in front of the ball.
  • Widen the back foot.
  • Make sure that all body lines are parallel to the
    target line.

POSTURE
  • Left Shoulder
  • Make sure that your left shoulder is on line with
    the target.
  • Right Shoulder
  • Make sure that the right shoulder is lower than
    the left shoulder.
  • Backside
  • Push your backside away from the ball until 80
    of your weight is on the heels and the remainder
    on the balls of your feet. Make sure that the
    shoulder line is level with the line of the toes.

POSTURE
  • Knees
  • Flex the knees so that your weight is 50/50 on
    the heels and balls of your feet.
  • Toes
  • Wiggle the toes up and down to make sure the
    weight is distributed properly and you are
    relaxed.

BALL POSITIONING
  • Distance
  • Place both feet together, heels, toes and knees
    at 90º to the target line.
  • Allow the knees to flex slightly, while keeping
    the clubface behind the ball.
  • Allow the butt of the club to drop onto the left
    thigh (4-5 inches) above the kneecap.
  • Bend forward at the hips 34º.
  • Make sure the butt of the club points just below
    your belt buckle at address.

BALL POSITIONING
  • Left Foot Ball Position
  • The ball position for irons is 4-5 inches inside
    the left heel.
  • The ball position for woods is 1 inch inside the
    left heel.
  • Left Foot Splayed
  • Allow the left foot to splay 15º-20º open.
  • Right Foot
  • Allow the right foot to move 6-7 inches for
    wedges.

BALL POSITIONING
  • Right Foot (continued)
  • Add ½ inch to the width of the right foot for
    irons (9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3) up to 15-16 inches
    between heals.
  • With a 5 wood a distance of 14-15 inches between
    heels.
  • Add ½ inch for the 3 wood and add ½ inch for the
    driver so that the distance between heels is
    17-18 inches.
  • Make sure that your toes are aligned just to the
    left of the target.

IN GENERAL
  • The more forward the ball is in you stance, the
    more you have to swing out-to-in.
  • The farther back you play it, the more you have
    to swing in-to-out.
