Title: John 3:1617 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth

1
The Love of God!
  • (John 316-17) For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into
the world to condemn the world but that the
world through him might be saved.

2
The Love of God!
For what reason did God send his Son to die?
  • God loved us (mankind), his creation, so much
that he gave his only begotten Son.
  • Sent his Son not condemn but that through him we
    might be saved.
  • Saved from what?

3
Condition of Mankind
  • The First Command
  • (Gen 215-17) And the Lord God took the man, and
put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and
to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man,
saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest
freely eat But of the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it for in
the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
    surely die.

4
Condition of Mankind
Satan Deceived Eve and Humanity Fell
  • The Serpent came to Eve
  • (Gen 31-5) And he said unto the woman, Yea,
hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of
the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent,
We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the
garden But of the fruit of the tree which is in
the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall
not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye
die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye
shall not surely die For God doth know that in
the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and
    evil.

5
They died that day
  • Death properly defined is separation
  • Physical death
  • Physical death properly defined Separation of
    Body and Spirit
  • (James 226) For as the body without the spirit
is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
  • They didnt die Physically (Separation of Body
    and Spirit) that day!

6
They died that day
  • They died a spiritual Death
  • Spiritual Death Separation of Man and God
  • (Isa 591-2) Behold, the Lord's hand is not
shortened, that it cannot save neither his ear
heavy, that it cannot hear But your iniquities
have separated between you and your God, and your
sins have hid his face from you, that he will not
    hear.

7
Each person after Adam and Eve is in the same
horrible situation!
  • Not because of inherited sin, but because of
    our own iniquities
  • (Rom 323) For all have sinned, and come short
    of the glory of God
  • (Rom 512) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered
into the world, and death by sin and so death
passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
  • Not inherited sin accountable of your own sin

8
We have all sinned
  • (1 John 18) If we say that we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9
Sin What is Sin?
  • (1 John 34) Whosoever committeth sin
transgresseth also the law for sin is the
    transgression of the law.
  • Bible says
  • Weve all sinned
  • Therefore weve all transgressed the Law of God!

10
If we are guilty of one part we are guilty of all
  • (James 210-11) For whosoever shall keep the
whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is
guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit
adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou
commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art
become a transgressor of the law.
  • No level of severity in transgression to God
  • Adultery is the same as murder in the sight of
    God

11
Sin is no little matter!
  • Transgression to Gods law is a dishonor to God
  • (John 1415) If ye love me, keep my
    commandments.
  • (1 John 53) For this is the love of God, that
we keep his commandments and his commandments
    are not grievous.
  • You will yield your servants to your master.
  • (Rom 616) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield
yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are
to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death, or of
    obedience unto righteousness?
  • If yield to sin then our master is not God - We
show our love and loyalty to something other than
    God.
  • High Treason Insult to God

12
Sin is no little matter!
  • The seriousness of an insult rises with the
    dignity of the one insulted.
  • God is our Creator
  • Creator of the universe
  • Infinitely worthy of respect, admiration, and
    loyalty.
  • Sin defames God and destroys human happiness and
    peace

13
Our transgression puts us in danger of Gods
wrath
  • Gods justice calls for our punishment
  • (Rom 623) For the wages of sin is death but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
    Christ our Lord.
  • (Ezek 184) Behold, all souls are mine as the
soul of the father, so also the soul of the son
is mine the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
  • God does not just sweep these crimes against Him
    under the rug.
  • There would be no justice if He would.
  • We deserve punishment for these transgression
    (Justice)

14
Our Sins Put Us In Danger of Hell
  • Hells a real place Just as real as Heaven
  • Jesus Warns in many parables about hell

Parable of the Tares (Matt 1341-42) The Son of
man shall send forth his angels, and they shall
gather out of his kingdom all things that offend,
and them which do iniquity And shall cast them
into a furnace of fire there shall be wailing
and gnashing of teeth.
Parable of the Net (Matt 1349-50) So shall it
be at the end of the world the angels shall come
forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
And shall cast them into the furnace of fire
there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. -
Furnace to Destroy
Parable of the Talents (Matt 2530) And cast
ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness
there shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth. Outer Darkness Away From the presence
of God
15
Hell is Eternal
  • (Matt 2546) And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment but the righteous into
    life eternal.
  • If life is eternal (without end) then
    punishment is everlasting (without end)

16
Hell is Eternal
  • (2 Thess 17-9) And to you who are troubled rest
with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed
from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming
fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ Who shall be punished with everlasting
destruction from the presence of the Lord, and
from the glory of his power
  • Destroyed forever away from God (outer darkness)

17
Thats Why its Called the Second Death
Our Condition We are in danger of Hell, being
cast out into outer darkness, because of our
Sins!
  • Spiritual Death separation of Man and God
  • Physical Death separation of Body and Spirit
  • Second Death Permanent separation of God and
    the Wicked for eternity
  • (Rev 218) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and
the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers,
and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth
with fire and brimstone which is the second
    death.

18
Gods Justice requires punishment, but his love
for us gives us a way of escape
Answer We Cant! We need Salvation!
  • (Heb 23-4) How shall we escape, if we neglect
so great salvation which at the first began to
be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us
by them that heard him God also bearing them
witness, both with signs and wonders, and with
divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost,
    according to his own will?

19
God gives us Salvation
  • Eternal Purpose
  • (2 Tim 19) Who hath saved us, and called us
with an holy calling, not according to our works,
but according to his own purpose and grace, which
was given us in Christ Jesus before the world
    began,
  • The Plan of Salvation was in the works even
    before the world.

20
Sent his son to take our place
  • (Rom 325) Whom God hath set forth to be a
propitiation through faith in his blood, to
declare his righteousness for the remission of
sins that are past, through the forbearance of
    God
  • (1 John 22) And he is the propitiation for our
sins and not for ours only, but also for the
    sins of the whole world.
  • (1 John 410) Herein is love, not that we loved
God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be
    the propitiation for our sins.
  • Propitiation to make amends for
  • Christ was sent to make amends for our
    transgressions to God
  • God didnt just forget our transgressions His
    wrath was spent not withdrawn

21
Jesus Christ was the ultimate Sacrifice for our
sins
  • (Heb 913-14) For if the blood of bulls and of
goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the
unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the
flesh How much more shall the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
without spot to God, purge your conscience from
dead works to serve the living God?

22
Jesus Christ was the ultimate Sacrifice for our
sins
  • (Heb 1010) By the which will we are sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
    once for all.
  • The only sacrifice we need suffiecent to take
away the sin of the world
  • (John 129) Behold the Lamb of God, which
taketh away the sin of the world.

23
Thats why Jesus had to suffer and die
  • (Isa 533-5) He is despised and rejected of men
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief and
we hid as it were our faces from him he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he
hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God,
and afflicted. But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised for our
iniquities the chastisement of our peace was
upon him and with his stripes we are healed.

24
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (Luke 2247-48) And while he yet spake, behold a
multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of
the twelve, went before them, and drew near unto
Jesus to kiss him. But Jesus said unto him,
Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

25
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (Matt 2662-64) And the high priest arose, and
said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it
which these witness against thee? But Jesus held
his peace. And the high priest answered and said
unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that
thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son
of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said
nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye
see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of
power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

26
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (John 191-5) Then Pilate therefore took Jesus,
and scourged him. And the soldiers platted a
crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they
put on him a purple robe, And said, Hail, King of
the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto
them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye
may know that I find no fault in him. Then came
Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the
purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold
    the man!

27
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (John 196) When the chief priests therefore and
officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify
him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye
him, and crucify him for I find no fault in him.

28
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (John 199-11) And went again into the judgment
hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But
Jesus gave him no answer. Then saith Pilate unto
him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not
that I have power to crucify thee, and have power
to release thee? Jesus answered, Thou couldest
have no power at all against me, except it were
given thee from above therefore he that
delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

29
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (Isa 537) He was oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth he is
brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a
sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth
    not his mouth.
  • He couldve called ten thousand angels we
    wouldve been doomed!

30
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • (John 1917) And he bearing his cross went forth
into a place called the place of a skull, which
is called in the Hebrew Golgotha

31
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • Then we see him nailed to the cross and lifted up
    and dropped into a hole.
  • (John 1232) And I, if I be lifted up from the
earth, will draw all men unto me.

32
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • God then turns his back on his Only Begotten Son!
  • (Mark 1533-34) And when the sixth hour was
come, there was darkness over the whole land
until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour
Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi,
Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being
interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou
    forsaken me?
  • Separation of God and His Son

33
Look Back Thru The Eye of Faith
  • Then we see him Dying
  • (John 1930) When Jesus therefore had received
the vinegar, he said, It is finished and he
bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
  • It is finished Gods plan of redemption was
    finished

34
Christ was resurrected
  • (Acts 231-36) He seeing this before spake of
the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not
left in hell, neither his flesh did see
corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up,
whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by
the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy
Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see
and hear. For David is not ascended into the
heavens but he saith himself, The Lord said unto
my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Until I make
thy foes thy footstool. Therefore let all the
house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath
made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified,
    both Lord and Christ.

35
Christ was resurrected
  • (Rom 59-10) Much more then, being now justified
by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him. For if, when we were enemies, we
were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,
much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by
    his life.

36
Now We have a Way to Salvation!
  • (John 146) I am the way, the truth, and the
life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
  • Through Jesus Christ sacrifice you can have your
    sins remitted.

37
Now We have a Way to Salvation!
  • (Heb 59) he became the author of eternal
salvation unto all them that obey him
  • Will you Obey Him?
  • Will you continue to Obey Him?

38
Now We have a Way to Salvation!
  • (Acts 238-39) Then Peter said unto them,
Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,
and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your
children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call.

39
Today is the Day of Salvation!
