5How It All Started
6How It All Started
- Prior to 1966, Northwestern University was
essentially homogeneous in racial, religious, and
socioeconomic terms. - In 1967 FMO was formed to meet the needs of the
Black community at Northwestern. - On May 3-4, 1968, 110 of 120 black students on
campus participated in a demonstration at the
Universitys Bursars office, which placed them
in a position to pursue their own social,
cultural, and political agendas.
